KEY decision makers are often called upon to make highly informed business decisions. Unfortunately, these board members, executives and decision-makers are also frequently saddled with multiple reporting solutions that present data in very “piecemeal” formats.
According to SAP Malaysia managing director Terrence Yong, the SAP Digital Boardroom solution being introduced to the local market is aimed at harmonising the view of company operations across all lines of business on multiple devices.
“This view enables users to understand the past instantly, predict the future and conduct business successfully in today’s digital economy” said Yong.
“Technology is changing the rules of business and disruption is becoming the norm. This trend will accelerate further for the rest of 2016 and into 2017. As business leaders we need to absorb, understand and adapt with agility and speed to constantly changing circumstances,” he added.
Built on the SAP Cloud for Analytics solution, SAP Digital Boardroom is expected to utilise line-of-business data from the SAP S/4HANA suite and SAP HANA Cloud Platform to provide a single source of truth about a company’s critical business metrics.
SAP Digital Boardroom contains 3 screens: The Overview screen, Context screen, and the Main & Exploration screen. The main aim of SAP Digital Boardroom is to give you a 360° view of your enterprise in real time. High-level as well as detail-level information is available to (executive) management members at all times (24/7).
This approach aims to help companies monitor and drive change in the digital economy. Better planning and accessibility SAP Digital Boardroom allows executives to work with the same single version of the truth that the rest of the organization is using.
In many cases, the higher one goes on the organization chart, more time has been spent fiddling with data in Microsoft Excel. In truth, many executives may not initially like the numbers that appear on the SAP Digital Boardroom, but it’s time well-spent to confirm that those numbers are indeed truthful.
Despite the fact that the experiences of many top executives vary, it’s common that chief information officers who consistently rank analytics as a “top priority” in surveys are usually the first who go missing from most BI projects. Most BI conversations don’t include the rest of the C-suite, either and this is where SAP Digital Boardroom gives a partner or a BI Competency Center manager an opening to have a conversation with C-level execs about better business outcomes.
“The SAP Digital Boardroom can provide total transparency to board members, executives and decision makers with a comprehensive, real-time view of business performance across an entire company,” said Yong.
According to Yong, the value in SAP Digital Boardroom is in its ability to provide immediate answers based on real-time or near-real-time data. “The value of SAP Digital Boardroom increases exponentially when an organisation can understand that it’s not meant just for the executive board.
It’s meant to extend the capabilities and benefits of those executive to any in the organisation that has a need to collaborate around live data,” he said.
To date, seven organisations are already using the Digital Boardroom , namely Acea (Utilities, EMEA), Çalik (Conglomerate, EMEA), Coop Mineraloel (Distribution, MEE), Eastman Chemicals (Chemicals, NA), Mahindra and Mahindra (Discrete, APJ), Merck (Chemicals, NA) andUnder Armour (CP, NA)
