Civil servants, military personnel, and public school teachers in Taiwan will receive a 3% salary increase in 2025, the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration (DGPA) said Monday (July 22). The wage increase is estimated to benefit 730,000 people and cost the government NT$23.5 billion (US$715.42 million), according to a DGPA press statement. This is the first time in 25 years that salaries have been increased for two consecutive years, per ET Today.
The salary adjustment is intended to “stimulate the morale of the military, public, and education” sectors and “share the economic fruits” of the 3.94% economic growth anticipated this year, said the DGPA. The adjustment includes basic salary, seniority bonus (for teachers for academic research), and supervisor bonus. Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) said he hoped the wage hike would also induce the private sector to consider raising employees’ pay.
