Employers and companies operating in Melaka, Malaysia, is invited to work together with the Melaka Employment Hub (MEHub) to create more employment opportunities for people in the state. A mechanism particularly beneficial is the hub’s ‘train and place’ concept, where job seekers are first given training according to their academic qualifications or talents before placed into the suitable sectors.

MEHub’s president Senator Mohd Ridhwan Mohd Ali said that MEHub so far has provided 30 workers for the oil and gas industry, working together with the Melaka National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Pertubuhan Ikatan Mahasiswa Anak Melaka, and the Melaka Youth Coalition Council.

The hub currently is working on a cooperation framework with several oil and gas companies including Shell and Petron in Negeri Sembilan. MEHub plans to produce over 100 professionals for the industry next year.

Ridhwan was speaking at a job fair event organized by Melaka PERKESO participated by 37 employers offering a total of over 11,000 jobs.
