Indonesia has welcomed the policy changes and the alignment of foreign worker management function in Malaysia. Malaysia’s Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the matter was discussed during his meeting with Indonesian Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah and Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H. Laoly in Jakarta.
Datuk Seri Saifuddin said he had explained the policy changes in Malaysia on the alignment of the management of foreign workers including the Foreign Worker Employment Relaxation Plan and the extension of the Recalibration Plan for Illegal Immigrants 2.0 which will tackle manpower needs in critical sectors to drive the country’s economic development. He added that discussions will be held at the official level between the two countries.
Indonesian manpower minister Ida Fauziyah said Jakarta hopes Malaysia can quickly issue the SOPs for the foreign worker recalibration programme (RTK) 2.0 announced earlier this month. He said the SOPs will be a reference for illegal immigrants who have been working in Malaysia for a long time. “The Indonesian government needs more detailed and clear information from the Malaysian government on the implementation of the programme.”
