For the second year running, the Malaysia Short-Term Employment Program (MySTEP) will be organised by General Assembly Malaysia (GA Malaysia) partnering with Khazanah Nasional. The four-month course will equip participants with in-demand and relevant digital skills through virtual class, instructor-led courses in one of three digital disciplines: data analytics, digital marketing, and UX design.
Participants will also undergo GA’s award-winning digital bootcamps and curriculum to prepare them for employment. It also comes with a monthly allowance of RM2,000 on top of a 3-month placement with one of GA Malaysia’s near 200 local hiring partners.
Training for Employment
According to Andrew Pereira, Chief Executive Officer of GA Malaysia, “With the national unemployment rate hovering around 4 per cent and a quarter of Malaysian jobs at risk of displacement due to the accelerating pace of digitalisation, MySTEP 2022 could not come at a better time. As a global digital skills transformation company, General Assembly is well- positioned to assist, particularly with our proven track record of placing 92 per cent of reskilling graduates in in-demand digital roles within six months of graduating.”
“In addition, we will support our MySTEP participants to acquire industry-ready skills and earn valuable work experience whilst they earn a monthly salary in preparation for full-time employment,” he added.
Andrew further elaborated that the program more than just equip participants with relevant skills but also put them on a career path that is meaningful and sustainable. By the end of 2022, a total of 700 Malaysians will have received training and job placement support focused on various in-demand skills.
