The cost of hiring Indonesian domestic workers (PDI) will be reviewed every three months by the Malaysia-Indonesia joint working group. This move is to ensure that the costs involved are relevant to current conditions, including transportation and health test costs.

Human Resources Minister, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan also said that the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the recruitment and protection of PDIs states that the cost structure will cover 15 components in Malaysia and Indonesia.

“Examples of cost components in Indonesia includes passport, work visa, health certificates, competency certificates, and psychological test. All PDI recruitment costs are under the responsibility of the employers in accordance with the Fair Recruitment Initiative guidelines issued by the International Labour Organisation.,” he said.

Costs in Malaysia, meanwhile, includes immigration security deposit, insurance, health check, levy, and work permit.

Employers are expected to save between RM2,000 to RM3,000 on recruitment costs since PDIs are no longer required to undergo quarantine, except for those who tests positive during Covid-19 screening in the country.
