MERITUS University, a division of the Halim Mazmin Group, and Selangor Wilayah Industrial Security Society (SWiSS) recently signed an agreement to formalise their continuous collaborative effort in elevating the standards of security services in Malaysia. The partnership features training programmes and certification courses aimed to raise the human capital quality of maritime security, particularly the workforce in supervisory and managerial roles ranging from former police officers, security guards, to other security personnel. These courses are designed to cater to the specific industry demand in security management, maritime and shipping operation, and port auxiliary. The programme modules and assessment are primarily focused on the basic requirement and competency level for security management.

“The development of highly skilled talent continues to play a critical role in propelling the nation’s economic growth, as highlighted in the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (2021-2025). MERITUS University is well-placed to support the demands for well-trained workforce as we offer academic programmes that are accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) as well as professional development training programmes comprising various aspects of maritime business management. The collaboration between MERITUS University and SWiSS reaffirms the commitment of both organisations to further facilitate the professional development of human capital in the security sector, specifically in the maritime industry,” said Tan Sri (Dr.) Halim Mohammad, Founder and Chairman of MERITUS University and renowned Malaysian maritime expert.
