Gig workers who are active and undergoing training programmes will get a monthly allowance for income lost while in training. Announcing this in tabling the revised Budget 2023 in Parliament, Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) will provide the monthly allowance of RM200 for three months as compensation. Datuk Seri Anwar said RM40 million will be allocated for the initiative, which is expected to benefit about 30,000 gig workers.
