Eighteen Indian companies have been named HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia for their employee engagement strategies which helped to motivate and communicate with their employees as the global health crisis and economic lockdown continued throughout 2021. This is evident that employee engagement has been vital for organizations to sustain and even grow their businesses.
A new proprietary platform is specifically built to measure employee engagement in real-time and this year, 11,742 employees from 135 Indian companies took part in the HR Asia employee engagement survey via the TEAM platform. Each survey respondent completes the survey anonymously and the results are confidential as the employers only receive the survey average score of each question.
Based on the survey, 92 percent of the respondents are happy that their organization has allowed or practices flexible working arrangements as due to the pandemic, economic lockdown is implemented, and they are able to work remotely, and 89 percent claimed that their organizations has been encouraging and have implemented policies to benefit them to get additional skills or certifications.
Eighty-eight percent are happy to do more than what they are asked and willing to go the extra mile to achieve the goals of the organization. This resonates with the Indian employees by having clear and concise communication with their employers, they are willing to achieve and strive for excellence and growth together with the organization.
Although there are clear objectives and communication between the employers and employees, the survey showed that 79 percent moaned that their organization does not see value in failures. As failures are the stepping stone to learning and growth to success.
“The pandemic has placed extraordinary demands on business leaders and beyond. For some companies, a near term survival plan may seem to be the only agenda for recovery but by investing in employee engagement, employees will feel supported in their jobs and in return will contribute to the overall business operations and post-recovery growth,” said Datuk William Ng, group publisher and editor-in-chief of Business Media International, the publisher of HR Asia.
