Unilever has started its operations in Vietnam since 1995 and has consistently and successfully grown its business over the years. LifeLong Learning    

Learning spirit – ‘learn everywhere and apply everyday’ is the core strength of Unilever.  With the industrial revolution 4.0, where changes are constant and faster than ever, we see a great need for our people to stay up-to-date and ahead of the curve; learn, unlearn and relearn future new capabilities (e.g. Digital, Data Analytics…), and proactively drive their own learning agenda.  We have revamped the curriculum for each functions to make it future-fit, activated LifeLong Learning Spirit, and created multiple learning formats, especially intuitive e-learning that curates to each individual’s learning needs and allows them to learn everywhere, at any time.

Leadership Development

Unilever is a talent making company.  Our signature UFLP – Unilever Future Leader Program and U-Fresh – Unilever Fresh Program are great examples of how we build and develop future leaders from within.  Every year we attract and recruit fresh graduates from universities across Vietnam, put them through an intensive on-the-job learning program, rotate them to different roles, different functions, give them real business challenges and international exposures to accelerate their development. Our internal promotion rate is above 80% thanks to these initiatives.  The open, learning and coaching culture that we have fostered over the years helps people learn fast and unleash their potential.

Diverse, Inclusive Culture

As a responsible business, we drive diversity and inclusion at work with progressive policies and practices to allow people to perform at their very best, irrespective of their gender or backgrounds. Women account for more than 55% at our management positions and we encourage our business partners and suppliers to create more job opportunities for women. “UFEP – Unilever Female Engineering Program” – a special career orientation program for female engineering students is organized annually to raise more awareness and encourage female students to apply for technical jobs, to do what they like to do against social bias.  Besides, our ‘Women in Leadership’ program is also a great example as how we provide coaching support to women to progress their careers internally.

Agile Office and Agile Ways of Working    

We have recently renovated our office into Agile with the most modern, digital Agile Set Up while meeting the highest standards for the Green Office in Vietnam. Underlying is the Agile working philosophy, where we want to empower the teams, encourage them to collaborate, to experiment more and come up with innovative ideas, to act with speed and be responsive with the market. All HR business partners have been trained in Agile methodology and are implementing Agile practices with the business. For us, Agile is a pioneering practice, which was tested and proved to be successful with CoVid -19.  It is promised to increase speed, build a more engaged, energized and committed workforce, and above all, bring more value to our consumers/customers, hence, drive business growth.
