Seasoned HR leader, Farid Basir, 51, has scored another hat-trick by being appointed the Chief People Officer of MBSB Bank. Farid is not new to the banking sector, having previously served as Chief Human Capital Officer at Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd from 2016 to 2018.

He was previously the Chief Human Resources Officer of telecom giant, Telekom Malaysia Berhad before taking a short sojourn with a social enterprise that helped unemployed youths to learn employable skills. A passionate community builder and leader, Farid is also a co-founder of the HR Leader’s Circle and the vice president of Malaysian Employer’s Federation

Farid graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 1993, and cut his teeth in HR with Telekom Malaysia, before moving into increasingly senior roles in a number of industries, across a diverse geography – including Switzerland, South Africa and the Philippines.

HR Asia congratulates Farid on the appointment and wish him well in his new role at MBSB Bank, which itself is a past recipient of the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia in 2014 and 2016.
