ByteDance, the owner of video app TikTok, is rapidly expanding its workforce in the Asia Pacific region, with Singapore its current target for a massive hiring spree. This is in line with their announcement to make Singapore its APAC headquarters.
A recent report showed that ByteDance had posted 338 jobs in Singapore in the past six months, this includes both technical roles and senior management positions. According to Human Resources Director (HRD), there were about 210 open roles on LinkedIn posted by ByteDance and TikTok at the start of the week. HR roles like HRBP and talent acquisition manager were posted in recent weeks.
Prior to this, the company was reportedly growing its base in Australia, where they were on track to add about 100 employees by end of 2020.
The tech firm’s careers site mentions that they now have over 60,000 employees in more than 120 cities around the world. Based on their recent hiring trends, those numbers are set to grow in the coming months, with open roles updated frequently, including for jobs in its APAC locations.
Besides Singapore and Sydney, they’re actively hiring in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. They’re also looking for recruits in relatively smaller offices in Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Manila.
Besides the globally viral app TikTok, ByteDance owns another six applications that are currently accessible in different markets. Lark for example is a collaboration tool available in Japan and Singapore, while BaBe is a localised news and content app in Indonesia. The open roles will thus be for jobs for its variety of products.
