HR Asia, Asia’s most authoritative publication for HR professionals hosted a night of reverie for the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2016, has revealed the twenty Singaporean winners of the awards.
Among the winners were Equinix Singapore, Robert Bosch, and TWG Tea Company. CEOs and human resources directors of the winning companies were presented with the Awards trophy by William Ng, group publisher and editor-in-chief of Business Media International. HR Asia is published by Business Media International. Also present at the awards ceremony was Kulshaan Singh, CEO of Mercer Singapore.
The awards are the culmination of six months of on-ground survey, with 5,800 employees from 160 companies across Singapore responding to the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in AsiaTM Survey. Respondents answer questions ranging from how they feel about their workplace and employment to their willingness to recommend their friends to work for their companies. Key sentiment among Singaporean employees is that they are fully aware of what is expected from them at work but is not sufficiently empowered to grow and develop themselves.
Explaining what differentiates winners from others, William Ng said, “Strong companies understand that attracting the right talents is only one half of the equation. Retaining today’s mobile talents require well-planned engagement programmes that keep people productive and happy at work”.
Singapore has dropped five places to 15th in the latest World Talent Ranking produced by the Swiss business school, IMD. It’s place as the only Asian representative among the top 10 of the ranking has been taken over by Hong Kong.
“It is not that Singapore has fallen behind in our capability to build, attract and retain talents, but regional competitors have picked up pace. Competition is no longer confined to products and services, and even innovation, but is now about our ability to provide the talents necessary to power businesses”, says Ng.
