Hong Kong International Airport became the latest gateway to hold a job fair, with one specifically aimed at the younger generation.

The event, Airport Youth Career Day 2023, attracted more than 40 recruitment booths and 1,400 people participants, many of whom were interested in some of the 3,000 jobs up for offer.

The jobs are primarily spread across ground services, customer services, cargo handling and engineering positions at or around the airport.

Over 800 students and teachers from 25 secondary schools around Hong Kong joined the event, which featured activities tailor-made for young jobseekers, including career talks and consultations, portrait photo-taking, coaching on resume preparation, make-up and hair styling for job interviews.

Fred Lam, CEO of operator, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), said, “Hong Kong International Airport is a community that not only provides a wide variety of jobs, but also various leisure facilities for staff.”

“I hope today’s event serves as a great window for students to learn more about different careers in the aviation industry, as well as the operation and future development of the airport. We are confident that HKIA is an ideal platform for the young generations to kick-start their careers,” he added.

The students also visited the HKIA Innovation Lab, where they experienced new technologies applied to airport operations.

Visits to the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy were also arranged to learn about courses that target young people interested in the aviation industry.
