ASEAN HR Leader’s Circle (HRLC) and UOA Academy recently held the CHRO Nexus Forum or CNF24 on May 20 at the Connexion Conference and Event Centre in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur.
The Forum was held for two days and aimed to share insights and engage in thought-provoking discussions around the theme “HR Revolution: Elevate, Future-Proof, and Sustain.”
CNF24 celebrated this historic event that marks a significant milestone for the HR community in Malaysia by gathering 275 participants, including an impressive 176 CHROs and their direct reports, to discuss, learn, and grow together.
The Forum also set a record in the Malaysia Book of Records for the “Most Chief Human Resources Officers (CHROs) in a Conference.”
The organisers have chosen to hold this event on May 20th as it was International HR Day to highlight the importance of the HR profession and the critical role it plays in shaping the future of work.
CNF24 was graced and officiated by the representative of the Human Resource Ministry. Datuk Shahul Dawood, CEO of HRD Corp while the welcoming speech was given by Farid Basir, Chief People Officer, MBSB Bank Berhad and Co-founder of the HRLC.
“As HR leaders, we are the custodians of our organisations’ most valuable asset – our people. It is our responsibility to nurture, develop, and empower them to achieve their full potential and drive the success of our businesses,” Farid Basir said.
“At this moment, I would like to ask all members of the HRLC to stand and show the power of our unity and solidarity. Together, we are committed to making Malaysia the best choice for foreign investment in talent building. Your presence here today demonstrates the strength and resilience of our HR community,” he added.
Some of the Forum’s highlights include inspiring keynote presentations by esteemed speakers, interactive workshops and panel discussions, and networking opportunities with HR peers and industry experts.
The CHRO Talent Outlook Survey 2024, conducted by HR Leaders Circle in November 2023, was revealed and provided valuable insights into Malaysia’s talent landscape based on responses from 125 Chief Human Resources Officers (CHROs).
Some of the key findings include:
• Only 42% of CHROs agree that the talent landscape in Malaysia for 2024 looks promising.
• A mere 22% believe the workforce possesses the necessary skills and competencies required for the evolving demands of 2024.
• 84% of respondents anticipate challenges in recruiting top-tier talents in the coming year.
During the opening of the CNF24, various contributions were acknowledged, including the support of Dapur Bantu Siswa programme where HRLC members donated RM11,500.00.
The food programme is a transformative initiative to alleviate student hunger within Malaysian university campuses. According to HRLC, through the CSR initiative, they are committed to building future talent and empowering the next generation of leaders.
Joseph Khor was credited with starting the HR SEEDS project to develop the next generation of HR practitioners. It was also noted that HRLC members have volunteered as speakers, mentors, and coaches for six months.
