Zebra Technologies Works with Singapore Polytechnic to Groom Skilled Talents and Support Singapore’s Advanced Manufacturing Global Hub Vision

Zebra Technologies Corporation, today announced the signing of a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Singapore Polytechnic. The MOU outlines both parties’ intention to work as part of the Singapore Polytechnic Advanced Manufacturing Partners Network, which serves to benefit more than 240 Singapore Polytechnic students with a Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Diploma in Computer Engineering.

The Singapore Polytechnic Advanced Manufacturing Partners Network seeks to build a growing and sustainable eco-system of like-minded industry leaders like Zebra Technologies, to achieve its vision of supporting Singapore’s Advanced Manufacturing initiatives.

“Contributing to 20 to 25 percent of Singapore’s GDP, the manufacturing sector is a key pillar of Singapore’s economy. Singapore’s vision to become a global hub for Advanced Manufacturing has spurred a transformational desire for the manufacturing sector to digitalize,” said Toh Ser Khoon, Director of Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. “Singapore Polytechnic recognizes the importance of building a pipeline of talent to ensure that the current and future workforce is equipped with the skillsets and competencies to develop and manage Advanced Manufacturing solutions. As a tertiary institution with over 65 years of heritage, Singapore Polytechnic is well-positioned to support the country’s drive to become an Advanced Manufacturing hub.”

The collaboration between Zebra Technologies and Singapore Polytechnic will take place across multiple fronts, including; student-internship opportunities, co-development of Industry 4.0 projects and solutions that will benefit local enterprises, showcasing of Advanced Manufacturing solutions and possibilities with learning factories, co-developing curriculum related to Advanced Manufacturing, and promoting Advanced Manufacturing-related engineering education and careers to current and future students.
