Almost a month after it was released in the USA and other countries, the iPhone has finally been approved for sale in China. Apple received approval to sell the phones after also addressing risks of personal information leaks related to the operating system’s diagnostic tools, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said on its website on Tuesday. Chinese scrutiny on American products increased after Edward Snowden’s reveal that spying and surveillance campaigns, including programs that obtained private data through U.S. technology firms. Despite the late release date, China has already seen models of the new Apple product sold in its black market.
