Official data showed that Australia’s unemployment rate rose to 6.1 per cent in September. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, part-time positions dropped by 51,300 while, while full-time jobs only increased by 21,000. The number of people working or looking for work has also decreased, falling to 64.5%. The jobless rate is the highest since July 2003. Australia’s unemployment rate has been increasing since its economy moved away from a resource-led growth.
