The number of unemployed across Indonesia has increased as employment vacancies fall due to a slowdown in economic growth. The declining employment rate was most noticeable in agriculture, processing industries, construction and trade. There was however some good news indicating job increases in transportation, warehousing, communications, finance and social service industries. Minimum wage policies were said to have contributed to the nation’s unemployment rate; businesses were said to be forced to lay off employees due to the minimum wage rate.
