Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower has taken measures to combat fake information on available job vacancies, including devising a plan to establish the Task Force on the Eradication of Fake Job Advertisements.
“Fake job adverts have grown troubling and brought detrimental impacts to job seekers. Therefore, we have decided to take firm actions in a bid to prevent the spread of such fake information,” the ministry’s secretary-general, Anwar Sanusi, noted in his office’s statement here on Friday.
To form the task force, Sanusi revealed that the Manpower Ministry would collaborate with relevant stakeholders, such as the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), Communication and Informatics Ministry, National Police (Polri), and regional manpower offices.
The official explained that the task force will be mandated to ensure that all circulating job advertisements have been verified and to take action against related scams.
Sanusi further noted that his office had also devised a job vacancy hoax prevention service that can be accessed via varied means, such as phone, WhatsApp, a website, and the ministry’s social media accounts.
To facilitate job seekers, he said, the Manpower Ministry has displayed a list of valid job vacancies on www.karirhub.kemnaker.go.id, one of its official portals.
He remarked that the government is cooperating with Polri to launch direct inspections on those proven to have spread false job information.
Moreover, the Ministry of Manpower is planning to roll out a policy mandating the use of a QR code to advertise and access job vacancies, with the objective of attaining a higher level of efficiency in validating job information, in accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 57 of 2023.
All measures are expected to stem the spread of false job adverts and improve protection for job seekers in Indonesia. – ANTARA
