Laurence Yap

Co-founder of the H.R. Leaders Circle and a founding member of Hacking HR Malaysia, a US-based Global H.R. Network Group.

Laurence Yap has over 20 years of experience managing organization development, corporate learning, and human resource in Malaysia and Overseas. He has over 11 industrial experiences including retail, hard drive media, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, contract manufacturing, conglomerate, IT, hospitality, solar energy and online payment.

Most of his employers are multinational companies like First Solar, PayPal, Pfizer, and Western Digital Media. He has also worked with major local companies including Berjaya Corporation Berhad and Carsem Semiconductor Bhd. His extensive experience in the industry has given him extensive knowledge and business acumen.

He is one of the few people who had played the role of Organization Development for nearly 15 years. He was involved extensively in strategy management, business process improvement, team integration, continuous improvement culture, and facilitation of different dialogue sessions to find solutions for business units. On top of that, he is also involved in talent management, succession planning and corporate learning strategies.

He is actively involved in the H.R. Community. He is the co-founder of the H.R. Leaders Circle which comprises 220 HR Directors in Malaysia. He is also a founding member of Hacking HR Malaysia, a US-based Global H.R. Network Group.
He won the prestigious HR Leader Award In 2017 and the HR Best Practice Award in 2019 from the Malaysia Institute of Human Resource Malaysia in 2017. He has also been named the Top LinkedIn Influencer in Malaysia from 2017-2018. Currently, ETHRWorld Southeast Asia named him as one of the 23 HR Influencers in Southeast Asia.

He holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Malaya. He has obtained the UM Fellowship for his post-graduate in the top University of Malaysia a full scholarship.
