Our journey towards becoming the Most Caring Company has been marked by continuous efforts to prioritise our employees' welfare. At the core of our success lies a commitment to an employee-centric approach. We have established policies that go beyond traditional HR frameworks, incorporating elements of empathy, understanding, and compassion into our organisational fabric.
This is showcased through our Thrive model, modelled after the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and all of our people initiatives can be parked under the three main pillars of Foundational, Experiential, and Emotional. These initiatives can range from leave benefits, ground up committees and celebration of various milestones with us. When all these pillars are fulfilled, employees will feel supported and valued, thus fostering a positive workplace culture that benefits both employees and the organisation as a whole.
At OMG, we believe that having a healthy working environment is fundamental to the overall well-being of our employees. Firstly, by fostering a culture of open communication channels where employees feel comfortable in expressing their concerns, thoughts and even ideas via annual employee surveys. These ideas will then be presented back to the leadership team, which builds trust and a sense of shared purpose.
Nonetheless, open communication is not the only factor that contributes to a healthy work environment. Appropriate recognition and appreciation are important in acknowledging employees’ efforts and achievements regularly. We walk the talk with a quarterly Spotlight Awards for employees.
The programme’s purpose is to recognise and highlight the importance of the company’s values in our day-to-day operations. These qualities are what sets us apart from other media companies and help us to achieve excellence. Through this initiative, we wish to encourage the continual demonstration of our core values as we create and achieve more amazing accomplishments as one. Hence, recognising and rewarding those who have helped us stay true to our core values will also build a conducive environment for everyone to thrive.
Additionally, we offer professional development opportunities including OMG Fuel and Accelerate to groom up and coming leaders and prepare them for the next step of their careers.
Flexible scheduling and remote work options are more than just perks - they are reflections of our understanding that employees have diverse lives outside of work. We emphasise clear communication of expectations, setting realistic workloads and deadlines, and encouraging open dialogues about work constraints.
On top of the comprehensive insurance coverage, we have established committees from scratch within sports interest groups to advocate for and support the physical health of our employees. The committees typically engage in activities such as organising fitness programmes, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, and creating a supportive environment that encourages employees to prioritise their physical well-being. Through collaborative efforts, our active champions contribute to building a culture of health and fitness within the sports interest group, fostering a positive and energised work environment.
On the mental health front, we launch activities in conjunction with Mental Wellness Month in October. The theme for 2023 was ‘Moments of Mindfulness’ and we hosted weekly mindfulness activities such as crocheting, massages, and terrarium building. We also implement three days of mental wellness leave for employees to rest and recharge.
