DE&I describes three values that many organisations today strive to embody to help meet the needs of people from all walks of life, and we also pursue these values.

We believe that in building a safe space for our employees, allowing them to be their genuine selves, and share their experiences.

Here are some initiatives we undertook:
  • Pride Fireside Chat in June: Speakers from our various offices shared what Pride means to them, their journey of embracing themselves, how being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community impacts their lives, and ways we can promote a more inclusive workspace at OMG.
  • LinkedIn Learning on DE&I
  • Inspiring Speakers Series in collaboration with LinkedIn: We brought together inspiring speakers to share their respective challenges, struggles, and how they overcame the odds. The series not only aims to inspire others but also drive awareness, be mindful and be supportive of such causes.

One speaker was born with spina bifida, but overcame the odds to be a successful sportswoman and even represented Singapore in the ASEAN para games. A cancer survivor shared how she continues to use her voice to uplift others and raise awareness. Also, a psoriasis advocate and a community builder, who is both a health coach and holistic nutritionist, coached others on ways to manage psoriasis holistically.
  • Panel discussion on International Women’s Day : We engaged in a candid conversation on how we can make equity a part of everyday lives, recognise and address unconscious biases, and how to incorporate equity into our daily routines and habits.
  • Challenging the traditional educational barriers : We do so by providing quality education to individuals who would not normally get opportunities in certain roles and industries, which include partnering with not just institutes such as universities and polytechnics, but also ITE.
  • Supportive leadership : Our CEO, Chloe Neo, also sits on the curriculum review board for ITE as the Vice-Chair and contributes her time as an adjunct lecturer at National Technology University of Singapore to bring real-life business leadership and management learnings into classrooms.

Omnicom has always been supportive of the DE&I and this ethos is evident in local markets. The agency network created OPEN 2.0 in 2020 as a renewed commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the company.

There are three tenents in this plan – talent, tools, and training. Five action items have also been tabulated – governance and accountability, accessible workplaces, recruitment and development, training, and external accessibility.

As OPEN 2.0 evolves and grows, we must be more intentional on how disability inclusion is reflected in our plan. Our newly developed plan to achieve this goal is called OPEN Disability 2.0 –a focus on putting disability at the centre of our business priorities.

Recognising, understanding and accepting DE&I contributes to a more inclusive and welcoming workplace culture. We believe this drives a greater sense of belonging and engagement when seeing diversity and equity actively promoted.

A diverse and inclusive work environment boosts employee morale and job satisfaction. When our employees feel valued and included, they are more likely to be motivated and committed to their work.

Also, diverse teams brings a variety of views, perspective and experiences and this fosters creativity and innovation. At the same time, organisations that prioritise DEI are more likely to attract a diverse talent pool.

DEI policies promote a culture of inclusivity, encouraging our employees to value and respect each other's differences. This fosters a collaborative environment where individuals are more likely to work together harmoniously.

Our employees also become more aware of diversity issues and develop increased sensitivity to the experiences of others. With our DE&I learnings, chats and initiatives, these help contribute to a more empathetic and understanding workforce.

Additionally, exposure to DEI helps normalise, eliminate and minimise biases and stereotypes. As a result, our employees may become more conscious of their own biases, leading to fairer and more objective decision-making.

Also, we believe greater inclusivity leads to higher levels of employee engagement. When employees feel that their unique perspectives are valued, they are more likely to actively participate in, contributing to a positive and dynamic workplace.
