The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia president Datuk Lim Kok Cheong hopes US President Barack Obama’s state visit to Malaysia would bring about the fruition of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) in a bid to lure more US investors to the country’s high technology sector. Commenting on the possible impact from the TPPA on SMEs, he said we are now in an era of free competition and as a small country with limited market, Malaysia cannot afford to shut our doors and do business with ourselves only; neither can we be shielded forever by the country’s protective policies.
