Forty-five Taiwanese companies have been named the Best Companies to Work for in Asia by the human-resource publication, HR Asia.
This year, a total of 6,480 employees from 162 companies across Taiwan responded to the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Survey. The survey also covers ten other markets across Asia, including Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Award winners include three-time consecutive winners AbbVie Biopharmaceuticals GmbH Taiwan Branch, AIA International Limited Taiwan Branch, Allianz Taiwan Life Insurance Company Ltd., Cathay Financial Holdings, Cathay Hospitality Management, CTBC Financial Holding Co., Ltd., DBS Bank (Taiwan) Ltd., HSBC Bank (Taiwan) Limited, Taishin Financial Holding Co., Ltd., and Takeda Pharmaceutical Taiwan Limited.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards were presented virtually for the first time. The winners were announced in a film that premiered on YouTube on 8 October 2020. ‘Employee First’ is a film cum virtual award ceremony that not only honoured and celebrated the winners of Taiwan’s HR Asia Best Companies to Work For in Asia, but also emphasised a story of resilience, strength, empathy and care of the companies to their employees amidst the pandemic.
“When the pandemic hit; we were unsure if the awards should proceed. But with the whole industry (and competitors) watching us and looking up to us for direction – we decided we can’t let the pandemic beat us. More importantly these stories of empathy and care must go out,” said William Ng, group publisher and editor-in-chief of Business Media International, the publisher of HR Asia.
“In times like these, we ask the all-important question of what separates the very best of employers from the good ones? Over the past 11 years of running Asia’s largest HR media brand, and 7 of those years surveying thousands of companies and millions of employees for the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia®; we distilled the shortlist of answers to only one: empathy,” added Ng.
This year, 8 Taiwanese companies won the WeCare™ certification award. These are AbbVie Biopharmaceuticals GmbH Taiwan Branch, Amgen Taiwan Limited, ASML Taiwan, Baxter Healthcare Ltd, BenQ Qisda Group, E.SUN Bank, HSBC Bank (Taiwan) Limited and Novartis (Taiwan) Co., Ltd.
