Caring for Quality of Work-life throughout Employee Cycle

Quality of work-life is one of the most important living factors for this decade. Especially for the new generation, quality of work-life is not limited to the basic four needs of food, residence, medicine and clothing. It also extends to a person’s overall well-being. Even after the world pandemic, well-being continues to be a critical factor in a person’s decision-making, both for work and personal life.

For UOB (Thai), we put our people first and care for our employee’s well-being. During the pandemic period, this included protecting work equipment, maintaining a frequent office cleaning schedule, providing personal care kits, implementing a work-from-home policy, providing COVID-19 vaccines for employees and family and more. All of this was done to ensure that employees had peace of mind, which would allow them to work productively. After the pandemic, we have continued to take care of employee’s well-being as our new normal. Not only their well-being in general, but we also provide flexibility for employees to select and utilise benefits based on their different needs. We believe that when people are empowered and fulfilled, they will be more engaged, strive for higher productivity and drive our performance and retain our talents for sustainable growth.

With the acquisition of Citigroup's retail banking businesses in Thailand, we aim to achieve our goal to become number one in employee pride. So, we have not only refreshed our external brand to be more modern and vibrant but have also listened to our employee feedback and taken continuous action to improve their experience.

Sasiwimol Arayawattanapong, Country Head of Human Resource

Our new normal working practices

In 2022, our new normal way of working has been hybrid work. Employees can able to come to the office three days a week and can work from anywhere for the other two days. The hybrid work policy supports employees to effectively manage both work and life. Moreover, with several flexible programmes such a Staggered work hours, Flexi2 and No meetings on Friday after 4:30 pm, employees can better deal with their personal commitments.

Wellness Programme-UOB cares for employee physical health and beyond.

In addition to our hybrid work policy and flexible programmes, we also have a ‘Wellness - Shape Your Life’ programme to take care of our people among six dimensions: mental, physical, financial, career, intellectual and social wellness. We implement activities under each dimension throughout the year.

Retirement Series

We also take care of our people who prepare to retire each year. The retirement programme consists of a series of activities set in the fourth quarter to prepare employees getting ready for retirement. We need to ensure that they will live their lives happily after retirement. Activities include physical exercise, meditation, generating income through hobbies, socialising through an online community of retirees, provident fund and investment fund information.
