Be Your Best Self at UOB

At UOB Thailand, we believe diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace are key elements to maintain sustainable growth as well as to attract, retain and develop talent.

In the aspect of gender quality and women empowerment, women account for nearly 73% of the Bank's permanent workforce and represent 67% of new hires in 2023. Women also make up 62% of Senior Management Function Heads who report directly to the CEO. In 2024, our deputy CEO is also a woman.

With our diversity, equality and inclusion policies, every employee regardless of gender can equally join activities and utilize the benefits provided by the Bank. They are welcome to share their thoughts and feedback for making UOB a better workplace.
Recruitment: Under the recruitment policy, we practice non-discriminatory hiring. All employment decisions are based on business needs, job requirements and qualifications.

Development and Performance Management: We are committed to building a professional environment that allows everyone an equal opportunity to flourish and develop within the organisation. Assessments of employee development are based on performance objectives established by colleagues and their line managers.

Risk Management: Employees are encouraged to raise their concerns without fear of reprisal through the Group’s whistle-blowing mechanism.

Workplace Environment: We strive to create an equal and inclusive environment where active discourse is encouraged and equal opportunities are provided to all our employees regardless of age, gender or beliefs. General facilities at our office buildings such as meeting rooms and common space are accessible to everyone based on a first-come, first-serve system, regardless of seniority, position level and gender.

Our employee care strategy emphasises ‘Wellbeing’ through the Wellness - Shape Your Life Programme. This programme is designed in a personalised way to allow employees to fulfil their individual purpose and work-life management.

Benefits: Many employee benefits were reviewed and improved in 2023, including paternity leave for male employees and full pay maternity leave for 112 days. We are on the right track

Our overall 2023 engagement score of 88% was an impressive increase from the previous year and higher than UOB Group and Asia-Pacific bank survey scores. The scores among genders showed no significant difference; 88% for female and 87% for male. The highlight dimensions scores include:
  • Pride: 91% of employees are proud to work at UOB and will recommend bank products and services whenever they have an opportunity
  • Empowerment: 90% feel they are empowered to make decisions regarding their work
  • Equality: 88% feel they are fairly treated by colleagues
  • Workplace environment: 86% of employees feel the workplace environment allows them to be productive
Our retention rate was better than the market average. In 2023, our retention rate showed a 1% improvement, whereas the market average reviewed around 4% lower compared to 2022.

Despite the uncertain global growth outlook, our 2023 operating profit increased by 39%. The operating income grew strongly by 63%. This shows that we are moving toward our goal of becoming more sustainable, #1 in Employee Pride, and the most trusted bank in ASEAN and beyond.
