At UOB Thailand, more than 60 per cent of senior management positions are female employees. Recruitment : Our Recruitment Policy guides our hiring process and decisions. Under the policy, we practice non-discriminatory hiring. All employment decisions are based on business needs, job requirements and qualifications.
Development : We are committed in building a professional environment that allows everyone an equal opportunity to flourish and develop within the organisation. Assessments of employee development are based on performance objectives established by colleagues and their line managers.
Code of Conduct : Upon joining UOB Thailand, all colleagues are educated about their obligations and rights under our Code of Conduct. All colleagues are required to refresh their knowledge and renew their pledge to adhere to the code on an annual basis. We also assist in deepening employee understanding and embedding the practice of following the code with consistent communications throughout the year using a variety of channels.
Risk Management : Employees are encouraged to raise their concerns without fear of reprisal through the Group’s whistle-blowing mechanism.
Workplace Environment : To create an inclusive environment where active discourse is encouraged and equal opportunities are provided to all of our employees regardless of age, gender, or beliefs. In July 2022, we moved to our new headquarters, UOB Plaza Bangkok. The Plaza was designed to allow employees to work more efficiently by creating multiple work zones, providing modern technology and promoting proper workplace etiquette. The building also features a meeting room floor complete with a large auditorium for special events, common area for gathering and dining, fitness room with exercise equipment and areas for yoga and aerobics, game area with pool table, table tennis and foosball, massage room and shower & changing room. All these facilities are accessible by everyone based on first come, first serve reservation, regardless of seniority, position level and gender.
Benefits : Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have helped secure more than 9,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to employees of all levels as well as their families. In June, the Bank welcomed back all colleagues to the office, while still encouraging employees to follow hygienic measures such as wearing masks and applying alcohol gel. As a result of our people care efforts during the pandemic, the Bank was awarded a certificate for "Good People Management Practices during the COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis" by the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare.
Our Performance in 2022
Women in the workforceWomen accounted for nearly 73% of the bank's permanent workforce and represented 77% of new hires in 2022. Women also made up 70% of Senior Management Function Heads that report directly to the CEO.
Silver Workforce
Continued employment was offered to UOB Thailand Colleagues eligible for retirement, 11 of which were women. With their experience and rich institutional knowledge, these colleagues are able to continue to serve the interest of the Bank while providing mentorship and guidance to our younger colleagues.
Special Needs Workforce
Our diverse workforce extends to providing job opportunities to those with disabilities. The Bank partners with the Association for Professional Development for the Blind in Thailand (APDBT) through the hiring of massage therapists with visual impairments. We also support the salaries of people with disabilities employed through the Thai Red Cross.
