The Digitalization Journey at WHB

As we ride the wave of digital transformation, Worldwide Holdings Berhad (WHB) realizes the crucial need for solid businesses and technology evolution plans to enhance digital literacy among our own workforces. To ensure the success of this continual improvement journey, WHB has laid out a solid framework which saw the implementation of process automation and adoption of data-driven culture in several phases, to replace old and conventional processes and practices, internally and externally.

With the rise of new and advanced systems, not all employees are open to change as they prefer the conventional way of doing things. To overcome this hurdle, ample resources are allocated specifically for relevant and comprehensive training programs, to ensure our employees are properly educated on the importance and benefits of this inevitable change.

Our digitalization efforts across the Group include the application of online systems, supported by digitization of data, cloud storage and moving towards big data. Through the usage of online systems, we indirectly contribute to the promotion of cost-optimization agenda, through reduction of paper use and manual labor, while enhancing our daily operation processes to be more efficient and effective whilst data digitization, cloud storage and data-driven analysis and insights improved the speed and accuracy of our operations and decision-making process.

Understanding the critical need for digitalization to enhance our workflow, we developed a solid digitalization framework that focuses on process automation and adoption of data-driven culture to replace our conventional practices. These initiatives include the development of online systems, digitization of data, cloud applications and big data in phases, which in turn contribute towards cost-optimization, environmental sustainability, speed of processes and better decision-making. To ensure smooth and seamless transition, our people are also provided with the necessary platform and resources to contribute ideas and undergo familiarization trainings with the new digital process implementation.

With these in mind, our Employee Satisfaction Survey serves as our check and balance to our continuous improvements in our HR services delivery. We periodically review and benchmark our salary structure to ensure our package remains competitive, attractive and able to retain the best talents we can afford, with the addition of performance-based remuneration to recognize contributions of high-performers. Simple but meaningful gestures such as family days, annual dinners, long service awards etc. also contribute towards employees’ sense of belonging.

Our people are provided with on-the-job learning opportunities, aided by necessary tools and resources to maximize their potential as well as promote personal and career development. Our efforts include internal and external training, upskilling and certifying our people to empower them to drive our continuous growth. We also offer internship and practical training to students under our Internship Program as part of our talent development initiatives. This strategy has led to numerous industry awards and recognitions, igniting enthusiasm among our employees with winning mindsets that drive our bottom-line results. In addition, we also establish a structured succession plan to ensure the organization is always ready with future leaders prepared to step up whenever necessary.

Encouraging Work-Life Balance

Where there is work, there is also needs to play. To ensure our employees have a comfortable state of equilibrium between work and their personal life, our Sports and Recreational Club (KSR) organises various social, sports and recreation activities to bond as ‘One WHB’. During these events, we can maximize interactions, build connections, and eventually break the hierarchical barriers, without losing respect among our employees. Our dedicated recreation floor, Arena KSR hosts various sports facilities for our employees to stay fit and active. Our Health, Safety, Security and Environment Department organises various talks and programs on non-work-related issues, health, and wellness to boost knowledge and promote self-care. Through these programs, unity, teamwork and tolerance is infused in our people.
