Embracing the Future by Addressing Emerging Well-being Needs
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant career and personal upheaval with changing expectations and emerging needs from the workforce. As a health services company, we endeavor to address the evolving well-being needs of our employees, especially during this unprecedented times of uncertainty and challenges. Guided by pandemic-related insights generated by our Cigna COVID-19 Global Impact Study over the last 18 months, which included responses from more than 2,000 Hong Kong respondents, we have refined our flagship ‘360 Joyful Employee Experience Program’ that was first launched in 2019. It now provides enhanced workplace flexibility by adopting hybrid work arrangement and connecting our employees through an all-rounded well-being campaign that pans across physical (#StayHealthy), mental (#StayAtEase), social (#StayConnected) and intellectual (#StayLearning) domains.- #Stay Connected
Cigna is committed to creating a connected and collaborative work culture while pioneering flexible hybrid working practices balancing between employees’ preferences and operational needs. We believe effective communication is key to facilitate collaboration and achieve common goals, deliver timely and meaningful check-in conversations is core to our performance management approach for managers and employees to establish partnerships in achieving work, career and well-being goals. We also launched a wide-range of staff engagement activities to maintain connections across the business. For example, we provided live virtual fitness classes for employees and teams to participate together with their family; rolled out the ‘Stay at Home Challenge’ photo campaign for employees to share their best pictures under the weekly themes of ‘Healthy Meals,’ ‘Best Way to De-stress’ and ‘Stay Active’ on Workplace, our internal social platform; launched ‘Cigna Stand Out’ recognition online platform for employees to instantly express their recognitions to their co-workers and celebrate professional or personal achievements through delivery of congratulatory notes. - #Stay Healthy
As a health service company, we offer comprehensive medical benefits to our employees. They are entitled to a comprehensive healthcare coverage comprising Inpatient, Outpatient, Maternity, Vision, Dental, and pre-emptive care. To provide additional protection during the pandemic, we have added a series of enhanced benefits to employees so that they can enjoy the same level of supports as we provide to our clients, which has included provision of Health Risk Assessment, coverage of COVID-19 treatment costs for hospitalization, prioritization and simplification of claim procedures, pioneered Cigna Telehealth Service for virtual consultation with waiver of medication delivery charges, and offered the Territory’s first ever At Home Cancer and Chronic Diseases Care Program. Additionally, employees are supported with 10-day additional time-off for COVID-19 related absences from getting the COVID-19 vaccination, recovering from side-effects to addressing family obligations as impacted by COVID.

In addition to our Employee Assistance Program which offers free counselling services and Employee Assistance Funds for those with immediate financial needs as impacted by COVID-19, our in-house clinical team with experienced doctors and nurses offer regular health workshops to our employees to ease their various physical and mental concerns during the pandemic, for instances provided vaccine information sessions facilitating employees to make informed decisions, conducted Mental Well-being Assessments with webinars for various stress management solutions. Reemerging from the challenging times, we see the importance to support whole-person health by running a four-week ‘Global Resilience Challenge’ providing resources to encourage employees to practice self-care getting recovery from stress and adversity. To enable our employees to balance between calls, meetings and work demands, we introduced ‘No-meeting Friday Afternoons’ and ‘Day of Reflection’ well-being leave creating space for our employees to have moments of tranquility to pause and reorganize their work routines.

To unlock the full potential of our employees and foster a culture of continuous development, we are committed to supporting our employees to achieve their personal and professional development goals. While we continue to provide structured classroom and virtual training for the identified enterprise-wide capabilities, we invest to establish ‘Cigna University’, an online learning platform that provide personalized and data-driven learning experience for employees to pursue at their own learning preference, time and pace. In addition, staff are sponsored by the Educational Development Program to pursue a degree program at accredited universities supporting them to further their professional growth. Anticipating the capabilities needs both today and in the future, we invest to develop emerging capabilities from Data & Analytics, Agile methodology, Transformational Leadership, Virtual Collaboration and Remote Management to Positive Psychology and Resilience Resetting.
