UOB Thailand as #1 in Employee Pride

At UOB Thailand, we strive to become number one in employee pride as we believe that it leads to better organization productivity and sustainability. To build employee ‘Pride’, employee experience throughout the employee cycle is our key success factor. We have created an impressive work experience for our employees using both external and internal touch points.

Externally, we have recommunicated our brand image to have a more youthful and flexible feel while maintaining a sense of reliability and trustworthiness through key actions and communications including 1) our 30-floor head office, UOB Plaza Bangkok, located in the heart of Bangkok’s lifestyle district, 2) Corporate identity refreshment and branch staff uniforms redesigning and 3) business expansion by acquiring the Citigroup consumer banking business in Thailand.

These actions did not only aim to build external branding to our target customers, but it also increased our employee pride by providing assurance that they work with a purposeful and successful company.

Internally, we listen to employees of all levels of the bank through our employee engagement survey, which allows our people to share their satisfaction and feedback on 17 engagement dimensions. Our people actions and initiatives were generated from employee feedbacks and aligned with our people philosophy of Care, Growth and Trust.

Additionally, at the functional level, we took actions to address different people’s needs and to build employee engagement.

As a result, our overall engagement score showed an impressive increase to 88%, higher than benchmarks such as the UOB Group and Asia Pacific Bank score.

Despite the uncertain global growth outlook, our 2023 operating profit increased by 39%. The operating income grew strongly by 63%. This shows that we are moving toward our goal of becoming more sustainable, #1 in Employee Pride and the most trusted bank in ASEAN and beyond.
