As GCash continues to grow, we constantly innovate ways to further create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing workplace. Now that we have a people-centric ecosystem in place, it’s time for us to continue to evolve in that area and invest our time and energy into setting up diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and programs within the organization, focusing particularly on empowering women, the LGBTQIA+ community, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). We feel that these communities can stand to benefit from the economic growth that comes from financial inclusion and digital transformation, and we want them to be an active part of making that happen in the country.
We are boosting career opportunities for women employees, specifically women in tech, continuously creating a sense of belonging for our LGBTQIA+ employees.

We support our female employees’ career growth and development to achieve a better gender balance within our organization and industry. We also set up ‘GTalks’ to expose our employees to female leaders in the industry, who share their career-related insights & leadership journeys. We have set up mentoring sessions giving female employees the opportunity to learn about different roles, skills & link up with people to help personal growth.
Today, we now have 46% women in our workforce (vs. 28.8% industry average) and 44% women in leadership (vs. <10% industry average).
We offered life-partner benefits for our LGBTQIA+ employees; healthcare insurance coverage for their life-partners, beneficiaries for life, disability, & accident insurance, access to bereavement assistance & shared allocation limits for wellness allowances. This is bolstered by our Pride group, one of our Passion Hubs in the workplace, & our membership in the Philippine Financial and Inter-Industry Pride.
We’ve established Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training across the organization. DEI x DEI program, a foundational course that enabled our employees not just to speak the language of inclusion with each other but to be able to practice inclusive responses that create safe spaces for all; achieved 99% of the target employees trained and 87% DEI certified.
Our HR initiatives on creating a more inclusive culture is an important foundation for the work that we do. This helps our employees extend care beyond the four walls of our offices.
How does this translate to our work & how we take care of the community?
With GInsure, we’ve made it possible for same-sex couples to get access to more affordable insurance products from our partners, which include companies: Sun Life, Singlife, Generali, & FPG Insurance. We’ve designed our lending products: GGives, GLoan, & GCredit so these services are non-discriminatory, only considering in-app behavior, instead of hinging eligibility on factors such as sexual orientation, gender, birthplace, family background, race, age, or ability.
We’ve partnered with Connected Women, an organization that offers flexible AI & digital job opportunities for Filipino women, to connect to freelancing opportunities. This can be done from home by checking out the Earn Money feature in the GCash app.

We’ve also worked with For The Women Foundation (FTW), a nonprofit providing free data science & technology training for women, to set up the Data Science Scholarship Program. As a partner, we’ve provided up-to-date information & trained scholars in key skills needed for these positions, & we’ve also offered job opportunities to help these scholars apply their skills & switch to new careers in technology.
Lastly, we leveraged our leadership position in fintech to take care of our environment through GForest. Since 2019, we’ve planted 2.5 million actual trees nationwide, covering 11,600 hectares, & helped provide livelihood for 3,000 farmers across the country.
