About Gandum Mas Kencana and Its Purpose

We are a company that specializes in the production of cooking chocolate, powder mixes, and ready-to-use food ingredients for the baking and pastry industry. Currently, our brands are Colatta, Haan, Bendico, and La Kreiva. Gandum Mas Kencana (GMK) supplies both domestic and international markets, in which we are present in more than 22 markets.

Our Mission

GMK people live by a mission and that mission is synthesized into our Why Statement, which states the reason for our existence. Our Why statement is “We strive to inspire people to explore their passion in food creations so that they can delight the world”.

We believe that having a great culture translates in our company to having energized and happy people, as well as giving back to the community. At GMK, we want our people to be energetic and happy. To that purpose, we have implemented policies that are aligned with our visions and values.

Policy Pillar: Lifelong Learning and Continuous Improvement

In order to reach a high-performing organizational environment, GMK cultivates its talent through in-house and outsourced training programs. We developed GELIS: GMK E-Learning System, an in-house e-learning platform with the purpose of delivering training especially for our sales people who are spread out across the country and the world. GMK also works with external parties to deliver training for our sales and support people. Our Leadership Academy program is a training program geared for talented employees who are on the fast-track of the career ladder. There are 3 programs under this category, namely: Foreman Development Program, Supervisor Development Program, and Middle Management Development Program. We also have a Manufacturing Academy Program which is more of a communication and knowledge sharing forum where members of the manufacturing department come together to share their knowledge and best practices. Another goal of the Manufacturing Academy Program is knowledge codification, where we turn tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge in the form of documents.

Giving back to society and maintaining good relationships with our environment is something that is ingrained in our lives. Not only do we feel that it is an obligation, but giving back is also fulfilling our need. Our past projects include blood drives, and donations for community development.

Policy Pillar: Happy People, Happy Customer

In GMK, it is our belief that when our people are happy, it will translate into a positive interaction with our customers so that we can truly focus on delighting our customers.

Our employee engagement programs are deployed with the objective to increase team bonding, encourage friendly and productive competitions, all the while entertaining and boosting the morale of our people.

Our GMK Got Talent is a bi-annual talent-show event open to all GMK people where participants can showcase their skills individually or in groups, compete for prize money, and gain recognition to stand-out from their peers.

We also facilitate several recreational activities to accommodate our people’s needs to exercise such as badminton, futsal, and aerobic class. When the company celebrates its birthday, we hold intramural sports competitions for the abovementioned sports.

Policy Pillar: Transparent Communication GMK also appreciates the feedback given by our people. We have implemented an online suggestion box via a third-party platform accessible through a QR-code. Employee complaints and feedback are sorted depending on their category and urgency with different coordinators for each topic. The online suggestion box guarantees employee anonymity.

Moreover, we hold bi-annual Industrial Relation Forums, where we maintain an amicable relationship with our union partner. In such forums, we discuss matters of concern from our workers brought forward by the union. Some of our company policies are also pre-discussed here before being passed into official policy.

KAGUM (Keluarga Alumni GMK) is an initiative that was launched in 2021 to facilitate relationships between current and former GMK employees. The purpose of this initiative is to maintain good relationships with our former employees as well as creating a network of former employees who are working elsewhere if they are still active in the workforce. Retiring employees can rest assured knowing that the company still provides a forum for communication and maintaining relationships.
