Haitong International (HTI) believes that a sustainable workplace is not only about environmental stewardship but also about fostering a culture of wellness and safety for employees. The following are the efforts in 2023:

Energy Conservation Initiatives:

Turning Off Equipment: We encourage colleagues to turn off their computers and monitors when leaving the office to minimise energy waste.
Energy-Saving Lunch Break: During lunch hours, employees are advised to turn off unnecessary power-consuming devices such as electric lights in meeting rooms, photocopiers, and printers.

Waste Reduction Efforts:

Toner Recycling: Used toner cartridges are collected and sent for recycling, reducing landfill waste.
Paper Usage Reduction: We advocate minimal printing and photocopying. Double-sided printing is encouraged and electronic communication is preferred to reduce paper waste.

Certification and Recognition:

In recognition of our efforts, HTI was awarded the "Hong Kong Green Organisation Certification Energywi$e Certificate 2023 - 2024 – Good Level".

Community and Industry Engagement:

HTI extends its commitment to sustainability beyond the office:

Case Competition Sponsorship: 2023 was the third consecutive year where we sponsored the "Case Competition 2024", organised by Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (“HKSI Institute”). The competition focused on sustainable development, aligning with our ESG practices and promotion of green finance.
Earth Day Celebration 2023: Our "Tree Planting Day" event unites employees in reforestation efforts, promoting sustainable ecosystems and reinforcing our dedication to environmental responsibility.
Basketball League Achievement: HTI won the 1st runner up in the basketball league organised by the Chinese Securities Association of Hong Kong in 2023. This league fostered high-level competition and sportsmanship among securities firms.
Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Participation: In November 2023, 10 colleagues from HTI participated in the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay in Hong Kong, competing against 100 other teams.
Red Packet Recycling Campaign 2023: In 2023, HTI participated in the annual "Red Packet Recycling Campaign 2023" organised by Greeners Action.
"Love the Elderly, Love the Brain" Programme: Since 2016, HTI has supported five elderly service units under "Helping Hands" through the "Love the Elderly, Love the Brain" initiative. This programme encourages employees to participate in caring for the elderly, promoting their mental health, and enhancing their cognitive abilities.
