UOB Thailand as #1 in Employee Pride

Aiming to be #1 in employee pride, meaning we continuously find ways to improve our bank services and performance considering both external challenges and internal management.

By ‘Building the Future of ASEAN’ as our higher purpose, we believe that if our employees have the same purpose and are happy working with the organisation, they can provide delightful service to customers, which in turn will positively impact our business performance and achievement.

In 2022, we took another step in our successful transformation. UOB Thailand expanded our business with the acquisition of Citi Bank-Retail Business in Thailand. A critical part of the acquisition plan has been making employees and customers feel that we are One UOB; sharing the same purpose and goals and always putting customers first.

Externally, we have recommunicated our brand’s image to have a more youthful and flexible feel while maintaining a sense of reliability and trustworthiness.

Internally, we have built ‘One UOB’ through ‘the UOB Way’; where everyone is inspired by the same purpose, practices similar core values and promises to follow our people philosophy to treat each other with respect.

By listening to our people through the employee survey, we focused on four improvement areas to create a better employee experience, reinforce the UOB Way in everyone’s DNA and to embed the organisation’s sustainability practices.

The key factors to our successful improvements included our senior management, who acted as change leaders; talent and key influencer engagement from all Functions; and strategic communications.

As a result, our 2022 engagement score was strong at 85%, a 3% increase over the previous year (82%) and 9% higher than Asia Pacific Bank (76%). Amidst the great resignation in 2022, our attrition rate reduced 0.83% comparing to 2021.

UOB Thailand reached new heights in 2022. Our operating profit showed a strong growth of 5% against last year.
