  • Commitment to ensuring employee well-being and wellness - The Bank has introduced an Employee Assistance Program (CHAT), a mental health program which gives employees access to professional counseling and therapy, and launched dedicated groups UMatter (LGBT) and FutureForwardFemales (Women in Tech and Leadership) to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Healthcare insurance is extended to domestic and same-sex partners, and retirement programs and offboarding sessions educate retiring employees on protecting and growing their retirement fund while remaining productive. Employee clubs and interest groups are reactivated and funded to foster a sense of community among employees.
  • Commitment to professional development - The Bank's UnionBank University is a readily accessible library of learning courses that strengthens the core capabilities of employees to support upskilling and reskilling. UBP Xcellerator is a CSR-funded program that promotes digital delivery for capability building and is offered for free to Filipinos to build skills and expertise in emerging technologies like AI, Data Science, Robotics, Blockchain, and more. The Bank also offers Executive Coaching for Leaders, which are comprehensive leadership sessions with industry experts that are experiential, purposeful, and transformative.
  • Commitment to social responsibility - GoBeyond Communities is an employee-led bank-funded CSR program empowering employees to co-create innovations for a better world by volunteering, donating to charitable causes, or sponsoring community events.
Over the years, UnionBank's employee engagement ratings have consistently been high, with a rating of 4.42 in 2022, higher than the bank-wide target of 4.41 and above the global best practice. The attrition rate was 8.95% in 2021, lower than the industry standard.
