Business Background
Founded in 1891, Signify (formerly known as Philips Lighting) provides lighting solutions to consumers and businesses globally. As the World Leader in Lighting, with a purpose to “unlock the extraordinary potential of light for brighter lives and a better world”, we have pioneered breakthroughs in lighting innovations to bring about better health for people, contributed to food security and climate change.
Sustainability
“If we believe in something in this company, it is sustainability. We want to build a better world.”, says Signify CEO Eric Rondalat. Signify has been carbon neutral since 2020, way ahead of vast majority of companies. Having gone beyond carbon neutrality, our sustainability program “Brighter Lives, Better World 2025” addresses some of the most pressing challenges of our time – climate change, resource scarcity, population growth and urbanization. Through this program, we look beyond the performance of our own operations to increase positive impact across our entire value chain.
Corporate Culture
Inclusion runs through the core of Signify’s belief system way before DEI became a buzzword. There is little power distance between leaders and entry-level employees here. In such a culture, everyone is respected. In meetings, even the most senior leaders will create space for a junior member to speak up and share her opinions. Suggestions will be heard and considered. This inclusive and collaborative work environment allows every staff to be who we truly are and feel the impact of our presence.
Autonomy
Trust is fundamental in the way we work. We define our own goals and deliverables, and then get supported by our managers through regular check-ins and feedforward conversations to achieve those goals. Trusting each other to do work to the best of our ability fundamentally changes the sense of ownership and pride in the outcome that we achieve collectively
Team Cohesiveness
Greater Together is a key value of Signify. We believe coming together and operating as an effective team is what makes us great as a company. Shared experiences enhance communication and build camaraderie that is the basis for effective working relationships. However, extended work-from-home arrangements is presenting a challenge to that. Thus, much effort is put in to bring the Signify family closer together. Regular and extensive activities on a monthly and quarterly basis are planned to facilitate interactions between departments, forge bonds and connections, and of course, have fun! After all, we come to work not just to deliver on tasks but also to build meaningful relationships!
