Established on July 1st, 1953, Bank Indonesia achieved autonomy as a central bank with the enactment of the Bank Indonesia Act in May 1999, subsequently amended in 2009. Operating as an independent state institution, Bank Indonesia is empowered to formulate and execute its responsibilities autonomously.
With nearly 71 years of service to the nation, Bank Indonesia manages 33 departments at its headquarters, 46 branch representative offices nationwide, 5 overseas offices, supported by a dedicated workforce exceeding 5,400 individuals. Throughout its existence, the organization has undergone significant institutional and policy transformations to advance its vision, with an emphasis on cultivating excellent human resources.
Key to achieving excellent HR lies in four main strategies: Workforce Planning (1st P: Perencanaan), Sourcing (2nd P: Pemenuhan), Development (3rd P: Pengembangan), and Retention (4th P: Pemeliharaan), which implemented in a Programmed, Scheduled, and Transparent manner. Under the 4P’s framework, initiatives include qualitative assessments of individual potentials, rigorous selections for talent pool candidates, sponsorship of master's and doctorate programs, prestigious institutional assignments, and flexible working arrangements.
Bank Indonesia also champions Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion by ensuring equal access to facilities and infrastructure, promoting inclusive participation in programs. The organization supports a vibrant culture through employee community engagement in shared interests such as photography, sports, arts and other recreational activities. Engagement is further enhanced through involvement from Bank Indonesia’s broader community, including the Employees Association, Employees Spouse Association, and Retired Employees Association.
In alignment with its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, Bank Indonesia collaborates with stakeholders on education and training initiatives. The organization’s "nature warrior" community exemplifies its dedication to environmental stewardship, complemented by activities like excursions and summits. Initiatives of promoting empathy and care include access to medical facilities and mental health professionals, underscoring Bank Indonesia’s commitment to employee’s well-being.
Recognizing the unique talents, experiences, and needs of its employees, Bank Indonesia prioritizes humanizing human capital to foster a positive workplace culture, enhance engagement and satisfaction, and drive overall performance improvements. This approach has yielded measurable increases in data engagement levels, cultural maturity, and mental health metrics over the past three years. Looking ahead, Bank Indonesia remains steadfast in its belief that embracing The Spirit of Humanizing Human Capital is indispensable for successfully navigating ongoing transformations.
