Reimagining Solution-Based Business Models in the Asia-Pacific:
For two decades our company has stood at the forefront of the digital transformationin Asia - growing our business through a pivotal era in technology. From our early beginnings we strode away from the conventional IT paradigm, quickly recognizing the importance of relationally driven value propositions and a customer-centric strategy. As we continued to expand, we refined the service-solution based B2B business model, with strong dyadic relationships and an engagement-first philosophy paving the way for bespoke integrated solutions. Our ability to devote skilled and experienced go-to-market business units to different projects allowed us to accumulate expertise across a plethora of industries, particularly strong in the public sector, communications, travel and transportation.
With that being said, ensuring that we move in step with new progressions in the industry is paramount to ensuring that our clients get the service they deserve. As such, our sights are always set ahead in search of new strategies to elevate us to the next level.
As the market evolves, we are looking to expand our presence in the commercial enterprise sector, such as hospitality, retail, manufacturing, and more. We also envisage ourselves to further leverage Lenovo’s global footprint in over 180 markets and our deep well of industry specific expertise . After identifying key patterns in client needs and growth areas, we shifted our strategic direction from industry-driven to technology and solution driven, implementing Technology Services Groups (TSGs) to deliver our award-winning services and solutions to an even wider audience.
This strategic restructuring of our business model will accelerate our time-to-market, standardization and scalability. We are fully confident that the transition of our traditionally industry-based models to a modular, solution-based model will empower our TSGs to have greater autonomy and innovation. By repositioning our critically acclaimed services into a more sustainable and transferable package, we will be even better equipped to serve the diverse needs of our clients and break new ground throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Cultivating Talent as Fuel for Change
Underlying every aspect of our strategy and development lies one foundational component – people. Perhaps more-so than most industries, the engine driving the technology sphere is talent. As such, keeping our talent management practices sharp and up-to-date is a core aspect of our company’s success. At Lenovo PCCW Solutions, we are one of the largest regional employers in the field offering comprehensive r Tech Talent Program , designed to nurture and open doors for bright young talents. Last year, we have recruited over 100 young business or technology talents, assigning them to various job roles across Hong Kong, Singapore, and Mainland China, etc. By investing in fresh-university graduates, we not only improve our own ability to attract and retain new talents, but also contribute to sustaining the broader pool of future leaders in the Asia Pacific as a whole.
Our Tech Talent program consists of a comprehensive 18-month curriculum that includes on-the-job training, job rotation, mentoring, and business skills workshops. From Day 1 of joining, our young talents will have 3-day orientation to understand the overall organization structure and business focus. In addition, the first certification program of “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” delivered by renowned practitioner FranklinCovey will help them improve their personal efficiency and productivity, as well as boost team’s morale and bonding in our dynamic workforce. Follow on, Tech Talent will have 10 workshops to develop their business etiquette, communications and presentation skills, aiming to develop proper protocol and emotion to become a responsible and presentable team player.
Besides training and workshop, the “Job Rotation and Mentoring Program” acts as a bridge between new talents and veterans with years of experience in the tech industry. Talents are typically assigned to different departments or teams over the course of the program, allowing them to gain experience across different areas develop a broader range of skills. Mentors will provide one-on-one guidance and support, deepening connections up and down the company and promoting opportunities for new synergies and innovation.
One of its most exciting elements is the “High Flyer Program”, where selected talents are offered the chance to accumulate overseas exposure. Visiting and working in our offices throughout the region is priceless exposure that consistently produces experienced and culturally sensitive talents.
Finally, the “C-suite Shadow Program” is the essential part of our talent development strategy, offering participants the chance to shadow senior executives, observing their decision-making processes and learning how to manage complex projects and teams. Participants will get to form potentially life changing connections, garnering crucial and industry-relevant leadership skills in a safe environment along the way.
We firmly believe that our success would be impossible without an amazing team of people working together towards a collective vision. The Tech Talent Program is an extension of this belief and is our way of contributing to the future of the tech industry - one young leader at a time.
Performance Through Levity – Fun@Work
As much as we believe in the talents we cultivate, so too are we conscious of the environment we provide for our employees. Ensuring that staff can work in a connected and mutually encouraging setting is non-negotiable when it comes to our company culture and values. We have strategically structured various committees to increase employee engagement and satisfaction to support well-being, giving back, and learning and development, etc. We have also implemented an Ambassador Program, selecting members from different working levels to help mentor colleagues with lesser experience.
We are most honoured to be recognized by this year’s HR Awards as a leader in Hong Kong. Our commitment to creating and maintaining a healthy and happy workplace will continue to drive our HR best practice, with employee wellbeing paving the way for service excellence. By continuing to invest in people and allowing our team to genuinely thrive, we have no doubt that we will achieve success together.
The company has taken several steps to create a better workplace such as implementing flexible work hours during the critical time of COVID, providing opportunities for professional development, and fostering a culture of inclusion.
