Wellington College China’s HR practices are informed by one simple mantra: ‘We are our people’. The group is, therefore, committed to providing a supportive workplace where everyone can thrive. Personal and professional development is essential for employee satisfaction and retention, which is why the group offers personalised professional development pathways that enable employees to develop their knowledge and skills in alignment with their career goals. These include programmes in teaching credentials, NPQ courses, coaching and leadership development in both academic and non-academic areas.
The results speak for themselves. Nearly 40% of all employees who have participated in Wellington’s leadership development programmes have already been promoted within the group. 60% of all participants have identified clear career trajectories at Wellington and are being developed for future leadership roles. To date, more than 1,000 talented educators have joined the Wellington College Family. 40% of them come from nearly 30 different countries or territories.
But priming employees for success is only part of the picture. In order to do well, one must be well. Therefore, a key priority at Wellington is ensuring that all employees and their families feel well cared for. This means promoting a healthy work-life balance, offering generous health insurance packages, and even providing one-on-one mental health counselling, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In its ongoing efforts to enhance the overall employee experience, Wellington College China has also fully embraced digital transformation. The group has implemented tangible core modules in recruitment, timesheets, and payroll to streamline operations. Employees now log-in to a sleek, intuitive portal for all HR tasks.
