OUR HISTORYCoach started as a family-run workshop in New York City in 1941. Its six artisans set out with a simple goal: to make beautiful, functional items in modern shapes from the finest leathers. As a pioneer in the leather goods and accessories space, the brand went on to establish itself as the Original American House of Leather. Coach remains inspired by its rich heritage, with the spirit of innovation it has had for more than 75 years.

LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENTOur people are the main drivers of our business. We focus on their development, and committed to helping our employees grow and to providing an engaging work environment with people empowerment culture.
Coach provide learning and development opportunities for all levels including Leaning Lunch, Onboarding Training for new joiners, Common Thread for people managers, Leader Transition Acceleration Program for senior Leadership, and promote Coaching Culture by Coaching workshop, Coaching Fair, and etc. In FY20, we organized over 22 sessions with 987 participants going through these programs in China. In addition, we launch program called “Learning on the fly” to enable e-learning.
RETAILFor retail store, nearly 3,000 staff (including full-time and part-time staff) receive trainings from an interactive online learning platform called “WeLearning”, with 100% coverage in Coach China. Through WeLearning, we provide global and market-specific product and training materials to ensure all retail staff learn comprehensive knowledge about our brand, product and customer experience. WeLearning also offers reward mechanism and various interactive functions to promote learning culture and staff engagement.
Each year, Coach holds an annual regional event called Store Managers Conference (SMC) for retail team leaders from mainland China, Hong Kong & Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Europe. We organized a physical gathering in Macau in 2019 with 3-day program composed of executives’ speeches, training workshops and gala dinner. With the pandemic challenges, we explored new way to gather all retail leaders virtually through vSMC 2020 and vSMC 2021, which over 1,000+ retail leaders participated in the online conference. SMC provides marvelous opportunity for all retail leaders to connect with the Company's strategy and new training initiatives.
Project BE is designed to foster the culture of ‘Customer Centricity’ in Tapestry China. We’d advocate for bringing in front-line voice, removing boundaries across brands and across corporate and field, providing diversified career development opportunities and experiences to talent and building an agile organization in purpose to support China Acceleration as well as build Diversified Talent Engine where talent can thrive.
DIGITAL INNOVATIONIn Coach, our employees are connected digitally. We build an internal WeChat Company account to share company news, learning opportunities, event enrollment and exciting moments. It has 100% following rate and 90% registration rate, which helps employees to know company events and register the one they like the first minute they see the news.
We are also connect with customers via Coach China Retail KOL Program. This year we enhance the KOL program to “ME @ Coach”, which is aim to foster internal KOL in retail and outlet store. The quarter selection mechanism and integrated development plan will support our store employees more choice on their career development. Along with the program, we provide variety of trains to build the capability of digitalization innovation and develop the talent of our retail team.
Besides, we organize an offline workshop called “Digitalk”. It’s the first time we combine H5 and hiring needs. We build Tapestry’s Employer image by sharing our vision, stagey and digital transformation plan to market.
EMPLOYER BRANDINGWe are actively interacting with talent internally and externally via Coach Recruitment Wechat, internal referrals and candidate job applications are much easier with only fingertips clicks. Besides, we launched a chat box on Coach Recruitment Wechat. We use our icon image Rexy to talk with our talent. By the conversion, our talent can get more information on Tapestry. In addition, we are launching mobile based APP in Retail so that Store Managers can hire via a streamlined process.
RECOGNITION AND ENGAGEMENTThe launch of Coach Global People Information Systems and Shared People Services enables both employees and People Managers to have the ownership and accountability of their team management and engagement. This is a powerful tool for people and talent management, as those systematic, transparent, real-time/on-demand, with easy-to-use processes and systems can enable staff to work at anytime, anywhere. More importantly, it is also a great platform to support the global multi-brand strategy. 21,000 employees in over 26 countries are now enjoying the benefits of easy/on-demand access and convenience from the systems.
Coach also launched “be the Champ” Recognition & Reward Program for Corporate staff High Performers. The CHAMP AWARD is a new and powerful tool in unlocking the power of our GC Corporate Employees (individuals / teams) in a quarterly basis. Besides, We keep provide CEO breakfast for Coach new joiners, diversified recognition award like Long Service Award, President Award, Lew Frankford Award and Million dollar club for top sellers in the field.
