In all places where it operates, Michelin becomes actively involved in local community life, forging ties with local organizations such as regional authorities, educational establishments, and associations, and more. Michelin provides expertise and financial support in various fields, including education, cultural and sporting activities, mobility for people and goods, charitable initiatives, and so on.Contributing to the society and encouraging employee involvement
Michelin launched an internal charity campaign “Michelin Motion Challenge 2021” where each kilometer that employees walk, run, and ride a bike will turn to financial donation to support Blind Foundation. Over 300 employees participated in this campaign contributing 1,200 volunteer hours.
Sustainable Mobility
Michelin is fully committed to the global combat against road accidents. Therefore, we are raising awareness of road safety best practices among public authorities and populations. The 5 years collaboration with FIA to support helmets for motorcycle was implemented in Thailand. Educated motorcyclists for the important of wearing helmet before riding. About 20,000 helmets were distributed to riders across country. Another Safe Mobility program launched in 2021, ‘VIA Road Safety Education Program’ aiming at promoting road safety among youth aged 10 to 18 years old and ensuring long-term mobility. VIA program was successfully implemented both online learning and onsite in 50 schools under the Ministry of Education and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. 5,000 students and 68 teachers have been trained to this program. Michelin also invited employees to participate in the activity organized in schools.
Building a Sustainable Planet
Because Michelin is aware of the need to preserve natural resources and earth systems to conduct its business sustainably, we take into account the environmental impacts of our operations and products, starting from the design phase including the full life cycle. Michelin hosted ‘Planet Showcase’ Event, exhibiting its environmental goals and initiatives, as well as its community and social contribution projects. The event was aimed to reinforce Michelin’s strong determination in realizing its corporate strategy, and to put forth the Michelin employee’s pride for being part of noble and meaningful contributions.
Michelin invites employee to join green campaign ‘Turning plastic bottle to PPE suits’ aim to raise awareness about sorting waste and make use of plastic recycle. The donation of PPE suits has helped protect frontliners from COVID-19 pandemic
