THE PIONEER OF THE 'LIVE-WORK-PLAY' CONCEPT IN THE PHILIPPINES

Blazing a trail in the Philippine real estate sector after pioneering large-scale and sustainable “live-work-play” communities during the late 1990s, Megaworld Corporation is an award-winning Filipino property development company founded in 1989 by the visionary tycoon, Dr. Andrew L. Tan. Today, it is the Philippines’ largest developer of integrated urban townships and the biggest office developer and lessor in the Philippines.

A PRODUCTIVE AND PROTECTIVE WORKPLACE FOR MEGAWORLD’S ‘HEROES’

Megaworld regards its employees as “everyday heroes,” whose dedication and hard work greatly contribute to propelling the company to greater heights.

To make them feel valued and cared for, the Human Resources and Corporate Administration Division (HRCAD) spearheads the development and implementation of holistic policies and practices encouraging personal development and fostering career growth, such as the following:
  • Megaworld Learning Academy promotes a culture of learning through master classes on topics such as customer service, health management, personality development, digital workplace tools, psychological wellness, leadership sessions, COVID-19 prevention in the workplace, and many others.
  • In time for the company’s 30th anniversary, a new set of Vision, Mission, and Values (VMV) were unveiled and later cascaded to the entire Megaworld workforce through a series of Core Values Formation - VMV Cascading Sessions . This is meant not only to guide the company further forward into the future, but also, most importantly, to enable every employee to embrace Megaworld’s work culture and inspire them to succeed by giving them a higher purpose.
  • Zoomustuhan —a portmanteau of Zoom, the video conferencing platform, and kumusta, or “How are you?” in Tagalog—is a forum-inspired platform held three to five months after onboarding new hires, where the HRCAD, employees, and their respective department heads catch up on how everyone is adjusting to their new roles and environments.
  • MEGA DZHR —a play on radio call signs in the Philippines—is a bimonthly “edutainment” program broadcast live via Zoom featuring subject matter experts sharing “learning nuggets” on health and wellness, advocacy and sustainability, career development, and more.
  • Fridays see certain lobby areas in Megaworld’s main offices in Taguig City and Quezon City transforming into People’s Lounges , or common venues where various activities are held, including the distribution of treats and goodies ranging from food to beverages and corporate merchandise such as a planner.
  • Custom-built Wellness Lounges at Megaworld’s main offices feature quiet nooks for reading and contemplation, or exercise machines to help stay fit and active.
  • Through Megaworld Foundation , the company ignites within its employees the spirit of volunteerism through various initiatives that benefit multiple sectors of the community, including the most vulnerable families and individuals and frontline workers.
  • Megaworld's Annual Performance Management program is a coaching tool designed to help employees grow professionally and climb up the corporate ladder. Here, department heads and their respective employees hold discussions to identify the latter's strengths, weaknesses, goals, and even their aspirations so they can craft the most appropriate action plan that must be taken. These plans can include promotions and/or trainings and seminars, all designed to help employees achieve their goals.
  • Lastly, Megaworld celebrates the dedication and loyalty of tenured employees through the Annual Service Awards . It’s also one way to inspire other members of the organization to write their own chapters of success.
