Vision
At QBE, we’re striving for greater
consistency across everything we do.
Our aim is to do things more
consistently than our competitors,
whether it’s in the experience we
provide our customers and partners,
the performance of our business or
the values that connect our people.
Innovation represents our focus on
continuous improvement and growth.
This includes developing new and
innovative products and experiences
and continually evolving to make it
easier to do business with us.
We believe being the most consistent
and innovative risk partner will see us
build the strongest partnerships with
customers and partners but, importantly,
it will also see us deliver more value.

Why we should be awarded the ‘Best Companies To Work For’ award?
At QBE, our people and culture is a core part of our strategic priorities. We are committed to embedding our strategies to create the best employee experience for our people.Leadership
QBE Hong Kong is led by an experienced, diverse and dedicated leadership team. Local leaders work closely with the Group and Asia leaders to drive our global strategies and practices across the organisation. As part of succession planning, we also established a unique shadow “Junior Leadership” team to encourage young talents to embrace empowerment and take ownership.Learning and career progression
Employees’ personal and business development is one of our main focus areas. During the pandemic lockdowns in 2021, QBE Hong Kong launched an innovative “Super 5 challenge”, using a gamified approach to encourage our people to self-learn. Five themes were introduced – Customer Focus, Data & Digital, Becoming More Effective, Technical Learning and Wellbeing.Successful outcomes:

- We have received lots of positive feedback and proved that this programme has created a learning momentum
Culture and engagement
Our QBE DNA consists of cultural attributes that are fundamental to who we are and how we need to operate to achieve success now and into the future. It guides our people in their collaborations with colleagues, external partners and customers globally. We encourage people to speak up and we empower our People Leaders to take ownership of employees’ feedback received through our annual pulse survey tool – QBE Voice. Our employee engagement score has seen a 50% uptick these two years.Employee wellbeing
Our approach to well-being is holistic, with a focus on creating meaningful changes across the 4 pillars of wellbeing - physical, mental, cognitive and social wellbeing. Various initiatives are implemented to support these 4 pillars. One of the initiatives was the “Arctic Challenge” where more than 180 people across our Asia operations participated in an online challenge, with a total of 562,161 minutes of physical activities and 34,106 minutes of meditation completed. The positive survey results that we received are:

Flex@QBE
We understand flexibility looks different for every person, role and team and we are open minded about how and when we work. At QBE, we are guided by our Flex@QBE principles which are designed to empower our people and support the needs of our customers and our business. One of our initiatives is embedding sustainable ways of working e.g., 2 hours of meeting-free zone from 12pm to 2pm; and the launch of “Meetings The QBE Way”, a framework to create value-added and productive meetings that lead to an inclusive outcome. Our processes and operations are ready to support hybrid working and we have put in place workshops and toolkits to educate our employees on how to navigate this new mode of working.
Response to the disruptions caused by Covid-19
We adopt a proactive employee communications approach which includes regular email updates and video calls to keep our employees stay informed and connected. When the country-wide lockdown was in force during Covid, our employees each received a monetary allowance to help them set up their workstation at home. We also hosted webinars and provided online learning resources to encourage our people to put their wellbeing first. For employees who wish to seek any professional counselling, they can access our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) which is available to all employees at no cost.A recent employee survey showed that 91% of QBE employees felt they were able to continue performing in a hybrid working arrangement, and 92% were able to stay connected with colleagues in a meaningful way during the pandemic.
