We value two-way dialogue and are always ready to listen to our staff with an open mind. Employee well-being and satisfaction is of paramount importance to a company’s business performance. To improve employee well-being, we have adopted a wide variety of measures, including but not limited to:Provision of competitive salary and benefits, such as birthday gifts, maternity and paternity leave, supplementary medical insurance and many more, including "employee preferential parking" and all kinds of employee discounts. To commemorate the important milestone of the 60th anniversary of the Hang Lung Group (parent company of Hang Lung Properties), an additional paid leave in honor of "Founder’s Day" has been added to all employees’ leave entitlement since 2020.
As an employer, we have the responsibility to safeguard the health and well-being of our employees. During the COVID-19 outbreak, a guideline was designed and implemented to provide work guidance for colleagues in the office, with the objective of educating and reminding them to protect themselves during the pandemic. Employees also benefit from company-issued anti-pandemic supplies such as surgical masks and sanitizers, and a hotline service to provide free counseling.
In 2020, flexible working arrangements were formalized. From March 2020, office workers can apply to start their work day up to an hour early or late, or work from home with the approval of their immediate supervisor. We have also introduced "Dress-down Fridays" to allow more flexible workplace wear for staff.
In addition, we regularly hold a variety of staff activities, such as birthday parties and fun sports events, including bowling and archery, allowing employees to enjoy their favorite activities in their own style.
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Hang Lung attracts colleagues with different backgrounds, creating a team that is passionate about work and fun-loving with a commitment to customer service.In order to build a professional, dedicated and happy team, the Company has developed a more personalized development plan for employees to help them master the latest knowledge and skills and unleash their unlimited potential. We provide training subsidy to help employees enroll in external courses or obtain higher professional qualifications based on the professional capabilities required for their positions to improve their performance and support their career development. We arranged internal training and sharing sessions through “Academy 66” to encourage employees to learn from others’ success. In 2021, we conducted our first Employee Engagement Survey to understand the needs and aspirations of our employees. Many good and practical ideas have been adopted quickly. Another Employee Engagement Survey has been conducted in 2022.
We organize various activities every year to facilitate communication between employees. Hang Lung derives its strength from a cohesive team bound by positive and close workplace relationships. We treasure collaborative efforts across teams and we are keen on recognizing outstanding staff. Our “CEO Award” was established to recognize project teams for demonstrating team spirit and interdepartmental collaboration. It is also the award’s objective to encourage internal knowledge sharing.

Hang Lung has become a role model in human resources management with its meritocratic policy. Hang Lung does not just offer a job, we offer a career. As our business expands, we need to develop our talent pool continuously.Our Internship program offers learning opportunities to undergraduates. They are placed into one of our departments to acquire on-the-job training and practical working experience to prepare them for career journey after graduation. We also worked with non-government organizations to recruit tertiary students with special education needs as Summer Interns. Our 18-month Management Trainee Program offers job rotation in various business functions across mainland China and Hong Kong. This helps our future talents to understand more about the real estate industry, corporate culture and the operation of various departments.
Established in 2012 with the focus on realizing the Company’s social values, the Hang Lung As One Volunteer Team works with various community groups and charitable organizations to support community well-being.
