Cargill in Vietnam

Cargill provides food, agriculture, financial and industrial products, and services to the world. Together with farmers, customers, government bodies and communities, we help people thrive by applying our insights and over 155 years of experience. We have 155,000 employees in 70 countries who are committed to feeding the world in a responsible way, reducing environmental impact, and improving the communities where we live and work.

We established our presence in Vietnam with the opening of our first representative offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in February 1995. In October the same year, Cargill Vietnam Limited was formed. In December 2009, we were the first U.S. company to obtain a distribution license in Vietnam, allowing us to distribute products directly in the country. We now employ around 1,500 employees working across ~20 locations nation-wide. Our operations include animal nutrition & health, food and beverage ingredients, agriculture supply chain, metals trading, unique macro ingredients and animal protein.

A Good Corporate Citizen

Everywhere around the world, we are committed to conducting our business with the highest level of integrity, accountability, and responsibility. Our businesses and employees are actively engaged in giving back to the local communities where we live, work, and do business.

To date, Cargill’s contribution to the country has grown to encompass the following:
  • Improving livelihoods of animal farmers: Since 1997, we have been conducting training workshops for farmers to transfer best practices in animal health and nutrition. Our goal is to help improve animal productivity and health, ultimately raising farmer income. To date, the program has benefitted over 1.7 million farmers.
  • Changing lives through education: Under the umbrella of Cargill Cares, an employee-led volunteering initiative, we have raised more than $5.5 million US Dollars and built 100 schools in 50 provinces in Vietnam benefitting more than 15,000 children annually. A typical Cargill Cares school consists of four or five classrooms, a schoolyard, a fence, and restroom facilities, serving 150 students.

Upon the completion of the 100th Cargill Cares school in December 2020, the company announced a new goal of building 50 additional schools for Vietnam by 2030.

We often have to choose a company that comes with a trade-off between benefits, good position or role, growth opportunities, promotions, and working environments. But at Cargill, I think this is a great choice where you don’t have to sacrifice anything when you give all your effort and dare to challenge the status quo
