KBTG during the crisis of COVID-19 in Thailand

The COVID-19 pandemic is global crisis and the greatest challenge we have faced since 2020. It has been affecting people around the world. Besides health-related concerns, economic and the restriction of social practice has widely generated limitations on day-to-day life & working life to “new normal” forms. Therefore, in term of the organization, new strategies for employee experience are also a must.

However, COVID-19 cannot stop KBTG to grow toward the company vision & goal, KBTG continues to expand in term of sizing and also innovation to support financial products and services of KBANK even the new technologies that built to facilitate people to get through the pandemic easier.


Innovation-Led and Collaborate to Innovate are stated as KBTG’s EVP (Employer Value Proposition). KBTG always aim to create new technologies for people’s better lives i.e. digital platform for Thai people to register for alternative COVID-19 VACCINE MODERNA via LINE@THGinfo which is the collaborative between KBTG and Thonburi Healthcare Group aiming to faster the herd immunity. Besides this, during the down turn of economic and financial crisis during the pandemic, KBTG collaborated with LINE BK and DTAC to co-create the project called “Jai Dee Mee Wong Nguen Hai Yuem” as a channels for Thai people to get into “Nano Loan” as easy that register and approved via smartphone. This is to protect them from involving the illegally loan which will cost them the illegally high rate of interest.

In late 2020, KBTG has created another new tech to support new normal life called, Contactless Technology” which led customer to financial transaction without any physical contact. “Eatable” is another new platform for new normal restaurant. KhunThong Chabot is the platform that help you overcome the complexities of calculating expenses, splitting a bill or collecting payment, etc.

All mentioned above shows that, no matter in which situation, KBTG employees are still courage to innovate new things for organization and our society.
Refer to the pandemic that affecting people lives to new normal forms, KBTG has shaped our people strategies to ensure their best and better experience during their time with the organization. Below are few strategies;
  • Benefits and actions for employees during the pandemic
    Since the hard break out in April 2021, KBTG encourage all employees to fill in the form every day to ensure their health and support needs during work from home period. If any found to infect with COVID-19, People team will facilitate to contact and transfer employee (or even family members) to hospital, facilitate them in term of work transition and support them with anything their needs during their health treat. In term of protection, People team has worked on their best and follow up closely to provide the opportunities for employees to reach to Vaccine and both for employees themselves and also their family.

    In addition, KBTG expand the limit for employee’s group health insurance covered health concern from COVID-19 both for employees and their family. KBTG also allow employees to claim extra cost occurred during WFH period from “Spending Account”. And lastly provide virtual psychologist therapy for all employees who might need it.
  • Communication is a key when working remotely
    Email seems to not be enough to connect people during working remotely. Hence KBTG create virtual connect event i.e. Live talk (Mini Town town) by having chairman or C-level to update and answer any queries every 2 weeks.

    In each companies of KBTG also manages “All Hands Meeting” as a virtual gathering every quarter focusing on updating direction, progress and build team engagement.
  • Meeting-Free Day Guideline:
    KBTG has launched meeting-free day guideline to implement on every Friday for employees to be free from intensive meetings and have time to concentrate on their works life harmony. And on every Friday afternoon, KBTG provides variety relax virtual activities to ensure that employees can rotate to join the activities that meet their interest.
All mentioned above is few examples we did for employees as we are “OneKBTG” and no matter how hard the situation might turn to, KBTG still grow continuously to support the number one leading bank, Kasikorn Bank (KBank), without having lay-off in our plan. Instead, once candidate passes the selection process and turns the status to KBTG employee, we always emphasize on giving the opportunities to learn new things, to develop, to reskills and upskills them to handle with the disruption and the future of work.
