Trust and Safety: What We Do?

TikTok Malaysia largely focuses on driving something that is very important to TikTok – Trust and Safety (or T&S for short). At TikTok, we view the safety and protection of our users as our top priority. The goal of our T&S unit is to build a world where people can safely discover, create and connect.

T&S Malaysia supports content moderation and content quality assurance for the Southeast Asia, European Union (EU), US and Oceania regions. This means that the T&S team has the huge responsibility of managing and protecting the TikTok ecosystem so that TikTok continues to inspire creativity and bring joy.

Meeting the requirements of different local markets around the world calls for a lot of agility. Community Guidelines are always evolving as new behaviors and risks emerge. As part of our commitment to keeping TikTok a safe place, we proactively enforce these Community Guidelines using a blend of technology and human moderation. Community members are also encouraged to report content.

How Are We Coping With Pandemic?

The impact of the pandemic on TikTok Malaysia is undeniable. However we have adapted to the situation. Since the start of our WFH arrangement in March 2020, we have been virtually onboarding new joiners. With the superb support of our HR Operation and IT Teams, our new joiners have been able to enjoy smooth onboarding, including having IT kit delivered to their doorstep and undergoing seamless virtual orientations.

To support our employees during this period, we provide benefits such as internet subsidy, workstation setup subsidy and care packages for our employees. These benefits help our employees set up a proper work environment at home and cope better with pandemic fatigue.
