About SWIFT

Trusted every instant
SWIFT is the way the world moves value. We do this every single instant of every single day, right across the world. No other organisation can address the scale, precision, pace and trust that this demands.

SWIFT is unique. We were established to find a better way for the global financial community to move value – a reliable, safe and secure approach that the community can trust, completely. We have constantly evolved in an ever-changing landscape, without undermining that trust. Nearly five decades on, our vibrant community reflects the complexity and diversity of the financial ecosystem.

Today, goods and services move more quickly and across greater distances than ever before, so value needs to move further and faster too. Our vision is for a world in which payments are not only trusted but instant. We innovate tirelessly, test exhaustively, then implement fast. In a connected and challenging era, our approach has never been more relevant. There’s no other organisation like us anywhere in the world. Without us the world would be a very different place. We’re trusted every instant.

About SWIFT Asia Pacific

SWIFT has been present in Asia Pacific (APAC) for over 30 years, and now consists of eight commercial and support offices, as well as an Operational Central Control Centre and our Malaysia Business & Technology Centre (MBTC) which currently hosts approximately 550 staff. Our MBTC offers a wide range of services to SWIFT globally, including IT development, qualification testing, support, business operations, accounting, financial analysis and transactional functions.

We put our employees in control of their career

We encourage our employees to take control of their own career development. They are able to explore different career paths and trajectories, through several mechanisms.
  • Trading places, allows the employee to be seconded to another team for a period, allowing them the experience of a job outside of their comfort zone.
  • Internal mobility, both within their country and across different regions
Our way of working is to be customers-oriented, act as one accountable team and to be open-minded and curious . We believe part of developing a career requires continuous learning. All staff have access to our learning portal, SWIFTSmart, which has over 5,000 e-learnings covering business, technology, and creative skills - and LinkedIn Learning to enhance the number of learning opportunities. Our Global Mentorship Programme is open to all employees, and allows those with different experience, background and skills connect, coach and mentor our workforce.

We make a difference

SWIFT has been a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact since 2012. This is a voluntary framework for companies to align their strategies and operations with ten universally accepted principles covering human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. SWIFT focuses its efforts on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We believe by operating responsibly and sustainably, we can make a real, positive impact on the environment and our communities. Through our active corporate social responsibility programmes, we encourage employees to spend time volunteering in their local community, joining existing projects or starting their own with our support.

We operate an open work environment

We provide working environments where employees can thrive and understand the impact our work environment has on productivity, wellbeing, collaboration and creativity. Our MBTC is setup with recreational activities – and we also understand the importance of practicing our religious beliefs; our MBTC is equipped with prayer rooms divided by genders.

While having an open office has its benefits, we understand the need for those who want to work independently. Our MBTC is setup with personal cubicle space, which employees can utilise at their convenience. We also provide personal lockers for them to store items throughout the day – and provide free snacks and soft drinks to ensure our staff remain energised.

Our company culture is open, collaborative, respectful and supportive, with strong team spirit. We offer flexible working arrangements based on role and team so that we strike the right work-life balance. Our excellent health and medical benefits ensure our staff stay healthy without having to worry about financial impact.

Encouraging social and physical wellbeing

To encourage our workforce to stay active and socialise. We have a number of clubs in place for them to join, participate and even lead:
  • Before the pandemic ; badminton, soccer/futsal, running, yoga, board games, improvisation, KL TowerThon, laser tag, movie night, indoor rock climbing, bowling night, international days, etc.
  • During the pandemic ; virtual workouts; virtual yoga, virtual games, virtual trivia, virtual running, virtual zumba, virtual dance, etc.

Our response to the pandemic

The pandemic has changed the nature of operations for many companies. Fortunately, we already operated a hybrid working environment where our employees are able to working from home up to two days every week. Being a global organisation, our technology tools are designed for us to easily and conveniently work remotely at all times.

Understanding the personal impact the pandemic has on our employees, we have increased support through our robust Employee Assistance Programme, providing education to staff on the support it can provide in a private and confidential manner. We have organised several sessions focusing on productivity from home and managing remote working during the pandemic. We have also provided additional allowances to our staff, including support for broadband and allowed them to purchase office equipment to ensure they are working comfortably, and safely, during this period.

Diversity & Inclusion

We understand that diverse teams perform better, have more impact and add more value. Diversity and inclusion are more than just policies and practices: they are integral to us as a global company. Our workforce are all given the opportunity to work with people from many different countries and from a rich diversity of cultures which is something that our people value. We continue to create an environment of unique individuals, an environment in which everyone’s voice counts, and where employee can reach full potential regardless of background, gender or culture. In KL, out of 539 staff 46% are female and 54% are male, from 28 different nationalities.
