Lee Kum Kee was founded in 1888 by Mr. Lee Kum Sheung. With a history of 133 years spanning three centuries, today Lee Kum Kee is an international household brand specialising in Chinese sauces and condiments, as well as “a symbol of quality and trust”. Lee Kum Kee, as a multinational corporation celebrated for quality and trusted by customers, offers over 200 types of sauce and condiment to over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Its six production bases are located in Hong Kong, where its headquarters also are, Xinhui, Huangpu and Jining, China; Los Angeles, USA; and Selangor, Malaysia.

To ensure safety and quality from farm to fork, Lee Kum Kee is adamant about the quality management philosophy of “100-1=0”, which tolerates no error throughout the whole manufacturing process. Lee Kum Kee stringently applies its quality management philosophy to every detail – from the procurement of raw materials, research and development, production, logistics, to sales and marketing.

As part of the New Hire Orientation program, employees will be exposed to corporate culture learnings and Corporate Culture Refresher Training to understand the expected behavioral standards from employees. Among others, we conduct fun learning programs on Anti-Corruption and Bribery, Sexual Harassment and Equal Opportunity for all levels of employees. Employees who have demonstrated Lee Kum Kee corporate values will be recognised through a peer to peer recognition program and good examples will be shared to encourage others.

Lee Kum Kee Foods Malaysia was established in 1997 and is the headquarters of the South Asia region, making it a culturally diverse organization with more than 200 employees from over 8 different countries. At Lee Kum Kee Foods Malaysia, people enjoy to socialise inside and outside of work. The Company strives to cultivate a caring workplace that fully engages our employees by promoting the "Tri-Balance" concept, which encompasses the elements of health, family and career.

We offer a variety of activities that promotes wellbeing among colleagues including wellness programs and interest classes. In 2021, due to the pandemic, we have transformed these activities to on-line basis and have been receiving many positive feedbacks from employees especially our virtual team building program.

In the aspect of talent development, we firmly believe in bringing out the full potential of each employee to help them build their careers. We provide employees with comprehensive learning and development opportunities by putting in place a competency-based leadership program while conducting functional-related training. This continuous learning culture helps our employees to take ownership in their personal development.

Caring for Our Employees

Employees’ health and safety remains as our utmost priority. In 2021, we further enhanced Office Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including Audit Procedures, Pro-active testing strategy and Special Work Arrangement to name a few. We regularly revise our contingency plan to ensure its effectiveness.

To support our employees to work remotely, we responded swiftly and allocated resources creatively. We put in additional IT infrastructure and resources to ensure a smooth transition for employees to work from home. We communicate with our employees regularly to ensure they are well informed of the Company’s strategies in fighting Covid-19 at the workplace. We further enhanced our medical plans by introducing digital medical services this year. Our Local Crisis Management Committee meet regularly to discuss issues and find the best possible solutions to counter the challenges that we face, providing health and safety protection for our employees, and at the same time, ensuring business continuity.
